1. EMS
Carbon rims and wheelsets are relatively large but lightweight, so shipping with EMS is cost-effective. Your local, domestic carrier will handle the final delivery (for example, USPS for US customers, Canada Post for Canadians.)

If your country is not listed in the International EMS destination listing, please contact us ([email protected]) and we will try to find a suitable delivery method for you.
2. MTS
MTS (Multimodal Transport Service) is by far the most economical and seamless shipping method we offer. The packages travel by vessels (MTS-Sea) or by air freight (MTS-Air) and are delivered locally by a domestic carrier (FedEx or UPS). MTS-Sea, exclusive to the United States, requires 3 to 4 weeks in transit. The transit time for MTS-Air ranges from one week to 6 weeks, depending on your destination country. Head to your cart and continue the checkout process to view the estimated lead time for delivery to your doorstep. We offer MTS shipping options for customers living in the USA, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, UAE, Iran, Vietnam, Taiwan, Russia, and Ukraine. We use negotiated rates with savings passed along to customers to keep your cost as low as possible. For many delivery regions, no action is required by the customer since clearance and logistics are coordinated by the carrier.
For US customers, please note that we cannot ship to regions with a zip code starting with 00, 96, or 99 (Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, etc).
3. TPD (Tax-Prepaid Duty)
TPD shipping is the only shipping method that arranges tax-prepaid rates for orders shipped from China to Europe, so there are no hidden or additional costs after payment. There are no customs or VAT fees. This option typically sees packages arrive in 2-3 weeks.

If delivery is highly time-sensitive, DHL or FedEx is the best option, with shipping typically taking 1-2 weeks. DHL and FedEx are the fastest but the most expensive shipping options we offer.

How to track your order?
After your order is paid you will receive an order confirmation email with a link to track your order progress. You can follow along to see your order move from material preparation, layup, molding, hole drilling, QC inspection, wheel building, packing, and delivery, to your doorstep. This in-depth order tracking is available for orders through the Global shop only.
01 - Material Preparation
We carefully select carbon sheets for each rim based on their specific tensile strengths, FAWs (fiber areal weights), and weave. We use unidirectional carbon fiber sheets that are machine-cut into precise angles and more complex shapes such as curves, grooves, and hooks, depending on the needs of the rim.
Lamination is the next step, where the carbon sheets are carefully laid up by hand in a specific order and orientation to enable us to manipulate the product more easily during the next phases of the manufacturing process.
02 - Layup
To optimize mold accuracy, we design and use two-in-one molds for manufacturing. The pre-mold can go straight inside the final mold, eliminating the risk of fiber shifting during layup transfer. Before entering the layup room, the pre-mold is thoroughly cleaned and checked for scratches or damage. The pre-mold is heated to 40℃-50℃ (based on the rim type) to prepare it for layup.
Our layup specialist weighs the materials before the first layup, starting with sidewall construction. After applying the release agent on the mold, we carefully remove the protective paper and hand lay the fabric layers from the exterior to the interior, constructing the rim body as well as fine details like bead hook and nipple reinforcement. After each overlap, we inspect the prepregs to ensure there are no wrinkles, air bubbles, fiber fractures, or particles trapped in between the layers. When both of the layups are finished, the two parts of the premold are fixed together and prepared for the next step.
Air bladders are inserted to shape the internal contours of the rim. An air bladder is fitted into the concave section of the premold layup and then partially inflated to provide a platform for the rim bed and hook layup, where strict tolerances are required as this affects tire retention and riding safety. When the layup is finished, the rim is covered with a plastic protective film and moved to the molding room.
03 - Molding
The rim bed and hook layup are inspected to ensure everything is in place before putting it into the mold. It then goes into the molding machine for one hour at a high temperature, which cures the resin and creates a smooth, solid rim surface. We monitor the air pressure and temperature for consistent resin curing and solid carbon layer binding. After cooling, our technician removes the rim from the mold, clears excess resin, and weighs and records the raw rim.
04 - Hole Drilling & Detailing
We use aviation-grade CNC drills with bits specifically designed for premium carbon composites. The bits have a unique cutting edge which makes exquisitely clean and precise holes.
05 - Rim Detailing
We conduct a thorough inspection on the rim surface and make small adjustments to any possible imperfections if needed. Our paintless rims come out of the mold with an almost perfect surface.
06 - Painting
Rims featuring Light Bicycle BlackTek technology is a perfect, paintless finish right out of the mold, requiring no coating. Traditional rims are sent to the painting room for a glossy, matte, or any custom finish. Waterslide decals are also applied at this time.
07 - QC
We inspect all rims to ensure they meet our standards for weight tolerances, construction, performance and tire mounting. As well as any cosmetic concerns with the finish, decals, edge smoothness, parting line, or hole drilling.
08 - In Place
The rims have passed their final QC inspection and are ready for wheel building or shipment.
09 - Building
All wheels are handbuilt at Light Bicycle by our expert wheel builders, where they are trued, tensioned and stress-relieved to strict standards.
10 - Packaging
If you’ve requested pre-shipment product pictures, they are sent for review at this stage. The rims are then carefully packaged for a safe arrival.
11 - Shipping
Your order is on its way! You will receive a shipping notification email with a tracking link.
Purchase cancellation
If you cancel your order before it is shipped, you will be charged 10% of the purchase value (minimum $50 USD) to cover restocking and operational costs. If you cancel after shipment, it will be considered a return and you will be charged 20% of the purchase total (minimum $100 USD). Shipping, customs, duties, and any other fees associated with the return will be yours to cover.
Received a damaged package?
Though this is rare, it can happen. Please inspect all parts of your order for damage before signing for your package, especially if the box looks like it was handled roughly. If you find damage, report it on the delivery slip or refuse the shipment. If you sign for the package without reporting damage, replacing the order will be more challenging. If you find significant damage after signing, contact us within 7 days with the original packaging.
