Quick Help

I can’t find the rim/wheel I’m looking for on the website, how do I order it?

Our online rim/wheelset builders list only a portion of our most popular builds. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Feel free to email us at [email protected], or drop a comment in the comments section if you’re looking for something special.

Information about your cycling style, terrain, tire choice, frameset, budget level, etc., is helpful to us in finding the best-suited carbon cycling solution for you.

How do I make an order online?

Step 1: Configure your build. Choose a rim model with dimensions that match your cycling style, then select from a vast array of hub, spoke, nipple, rim finish, and weave options!

Step 2: Place an order. Leave a note at checkout if you have any special instructions and we’ll get in touch!

Step 3: Double-check and track your order. After you make payment, you’ll receive an order confirmation email with a link to follow the progress of your dream wheels! Please make sure to inspect the order details carefully, and let us know if there is anything we should change ahead of shipping.

Feel free to email us at any time during the order process at [email protected]. We’re here to answer any of your questions!

What should I do if I need assistance in choosing a product?

Leave a comment below, or simply reach out to [email protected] and we can help! Generally, we’ll need the following information to make a good recommendation:

- The terrain you’re riding
- Rider weight
- Your cycling experience and skill
- The frameset you use
- Riding event types

We’ll then get back to you asap!

Pro series or non-pro series, how to choose?

If you are looking for a budget-friendly entry-level carbon wheelset, the Non-Pro series is probably the best choice. If you’re looking for the absolute best in performance and ride quality, the Pro series is definitely worth the money.

The Pro series and Non-Pro series differ primarily in their manufacturing technology. Our Recon Pro (mountain) and Falcon Pro (road) series feature Paintless technology, which involves a comprehensive upgrade to the production process. This enables the rim to emerge from the mold as a finished product, requiring minimal cosmetic treatment post manufacturing. As a result, these rims exhibit increased strength and have excellent scratch resistance.

Our Drift Pro series (fatbike) features a super-light and ultra-compliant single-wall structure, while the Non-Pro series follows a more conventional double-wall design.

In terms of product guarantees, the Pro series comes with a 5-year premium warranty, which can be upgraded to a Lifetime warranty. In comparison, the Non-Pro series comes with a standard 3-year warranty.

Within the warranty period if your rim is damaged during a crash, you can replace them at a significantly reduced cost: 25% off for the Pro series and 10% off for the Non-Pro series.

What’s the difference between UD, 3K, and 12K weaves?

When we talk about weave, we’re referring to the top layer of the rim that affects the final appearance and finish of your wheel. For the layers underneath, we use mainly UD fibers.

UD means uni-directional. As opposed to decussated/twilled woven fabric, UD fibers are parallel to each other and offer a clean, refined finish.

3K and 12K are twilled weaves, and the number of filaments per tow determines what -K the weave is (i.e. 12k means there are 12,000 filaments per tow). There are some 3K weave variations: 3K, 3K twill (horizontal), 3K twill (vertical), and Hexa-Comb. Similarly, the 12K weave is offered as 12K, 12K twill (horizontal), and 12K twill (vertical).

Why can’t I pay via credit card?

If you’re having trouble paying with your credit card, here are some common issues customers experience:
a) your card’s security code is incorrect;
b) your card does not support this type of purchase or your bank has flagged the purchase;
c) your card has a spending limit or insufficient funds;
d) your card was declined for some other reason.

You may need to contact your bank if your payment attempts fail. Try using an alternative credit card or with the same card after clearing the purchase with your bank.

How do I change or cancel my order?

Please let us know if you need to alter the order ASAP! If you’re making a change, our sales team will discuss your requests with the engineering department and get back to you with the possibilities. If an alternation is authorized, 10% of the purchase value (minimum $50 USD) may be charged to cover product re-stocking and other operational costs.

I'm worried about expensive import or customs fees. What should I do?

European riders - we offer a TPD shipping method that arranges tax-prepaid rates for orders shipped from the Global shop (China), so there are no customs or VAT fees for these sales.

For riders living in other areas, please get in touch with us ([email protected]) and we’ll see if there is a better shipping solution for you.

What should I do if my package arrives damaged?

If you notice damage to the packaging of your Light Bicycle products, please report this on the delivery slip or outright refuse the package and it will be returned to Light Bicycle.

If you refuse the package, the shipping company will provide you with a compensation number which can be emailed to us for delivery tracking. Arrangements for reshipment will be made within 10 business days upon receiving the returned item.

Can you calculate the spoke length for me?

Yes! We provide a free spoke length calculation service for rim/wheel buyers. Please send us an email ([email protected]) or leave a comment below with the following information and we’ll be in touch.

- Hub model
- Hole count
- Axle width
- Straight pull or J-bend spokes
- Spoke lacing pattern (radial, 2-cross, or other)
- Nipple type (internal or external, nipple head shape)

Can you build wheels for me with my own hubs?

Yes! Please email us ([email protected]) or leave a comment below if you’d like us to build your hubs to new Light Bicycle rims.

We’ll get back to you to arrange hub shipment, and set up a purchase order ahead of the building process.

What are the proper spoke tensions for my wheel?

If you’re building your own wheels, please bring spokes to an even tension with a maximum tolerance of 5% for the best durability and performance.

For the recommended spoke tensions, please refer to the following chart.

Non-drive side (front) Drive side (rear)
Mountain bike 115~130kgf 115~130kgf
Road disc-brake 120~135kgf 120~135kgf
Road non-disc 100~115kgf 120~135kgf
Fat bike 105~120kgf 105~120kgf

How to pick the right tire size for my wheels?

First, find out the inner rim width of your wheel, and refer to our recommended tire size charts. We don’t suggest choosing the largest or smallest values of a size range.

These charts are only applicable to Light Bicycle wheels. If you’re using rims from a different brand, we suggest sending a rim profile to the tire manufacturer for size recommendations.

We will send you a spacer to be shipped with the wheels, and you could mount the wheels on the cassette. May I know which rim you are interested in? Where are you from? Bill 2022/07/31

Hi, I was looking over your TT/Track/Tri section and I could not see how I could build a set of track wheels... Obviously I looked at the Rim versions, but I did not see a track hub, or did I not look in the correct spot. I have a set of road wheels I love, and my fellow teammates have also purchased from you, so keep up the great work.. B Groves

LightBicycle 2022/08/01

Hi Bill, We understand that people usually build TT/Track with different type of wheel 700C for the front and rear. As you mentioned, you are interested in a pair of track wheels. Do you want spoked wheel or Tri-spoke for your front? What's the axle size of your bike? Thanks, Lightbicyle

Juliano 2022/05/03

I have a Specialized Allez smartweld e5 2016 frame with a maximum recommended tire size of 28 and would like to know if you have any experience on compatibility with the falcon pro wheelset, since it's width is 30mm. Thank you! Juliano De Bortoli.

LightBicycle 2022/05/03

Hi Juliano, Is the new AR565 the rim 700C you are interested in? There are 2 factors concerned with the compatibility of the wheel, The clearance of the fork and seat stays, and the limitation of the calipers. So, can you confirm the clearance and model of your calipers for me? The 30mm of AR565 is on the widest area (middle) of the rim. The wheel should be ok to mount on the calipers if the limitation is suggested 28mm. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Michael 2022/03/03

Hi... Am looking at purchasing a completed Mtn Bike wheelset for my existing hardtail. Mainly for amatuer XC, but also occasional bike packing. Price is a reasonable consideration, but so is light-weight. Am looking at either the RM29C06 or XC925. Some notes/questions below. Can you advise please: # I am 70kg & bike packing gear only adds 5kg. # Hubs must be QR & compatible to shimano disc (front could be 110 through-axle if need be). # Free-wheel for standard Shimano 10spd. # Can you price the lightest option in both these rims please? # And can you also suggest/price a good value for money trade-off between weight & price in both rim options please. Thanks.

LightBicycle 2022/03/03

Hi Michael, 1. The RM29C06 29er bike rim carbon fiber would make the lightest option. It's been one of our lightest and most popular rims since we introduced it to the market many years ago. It's from the Recon lineup, which is more cost-friendly 2. As for the hubs, DT SWISS would be easier to convert between sizes if needed. No special tools are required. But Carbon Ti hubs would make super lightweight wheels. But the conversion would be more difficult than DT hubs. We recommend converting the hubs to a bike shop if you are not equipped for it. Note that both DT and Carbon-Ti hubs have limits for conversion between sizes. 3. Please confirm if the hub size you want is 15QR(15/100), and 12QR(12/142). Thanks, Lightbicycle

LightBicycle 2022/02/21

Hi Peter, Thanks for reaching out! Can you confirm the rim model to me so I can send you the spoke lengths? We have a few models with 30mm internal and external 27.5 rims 650B available. If you are not sure about the rm model, just send me the serial number on the rim bed, and I will check the rest for you. Thanks, Lightbicycle

I'm trying to change out the wheels on my Vado SL to the same set up another guy has. This is what he posted - of what his wheel set up is. Do you have these? How much are two? Front and rear - Can tubeless be put on them and what is the max tire width size. ?? Thanks so much for your help! Cindy Wheels: Light Bicycle carbon rims, i30mm, DT Swiss 350 hubs. Tires: Panaracer GravelKing SK 27.5 x 1.9. These measure 53mm (almost 2.1”) at 30psi on the i30 rims and have plenty of clearance in the fork, seatstays, and chainstays.

LightBicycle 2022/02/19

Hi Synde, Thanks for reaching out! We have 2 models with 30mm external width, which would be your pick? Hey mate Do you guys offer any 23mm wide tubular road rims? I would be looking for between 30-45mm depth. These would need to be symmetrical as they would be on track bike. No braking surface (disc brake) too. Thank you so much and have an awesome day, Luke

LightBicycle 2022/02/16

Hi Luke, Thanks for reaching out! Yes, we do have 23mm wide Tubular rims 700C available. Will 38mm deep work for you? You can proceed with the order via email later when we settle all the details. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Eric 2022/01/30

Hello, I am having a difficult time choosing between the R45 and AR45. I intend to run 700x28 or 700x30 tires with rim brakes for criterium and road racing. I understand that a wider rim profile generally proves more aerodynamic. My question is: would I benefit more from the toroidal shape of the R45, where the rim is wider (27.5mm) below the brake track (25mm) or from the V-shape of the AR45, where the rim is widest at the brake track (28mm)? Thank you for assistance.

LightBicycle 2022/01/30

Hi Eric, Thanks for your inquiry! For AR45 700C rim, the brake track widest is 28mm, but the rim middle body is with 30mm. it your bike wide enough? Is it your brake caliper wide enough for 28mm? Thanks Lightbicycle

Azfar 2022/01/14

Hi, I'm using a Cannondale Caad13 and would like to buy the FALCON WHEELSET AR46 DISC 700C Gravel-Optimized-Aero-Shape 46mm depth hand-built carbon road disc wheels - 28mm wide and tubeless compatible. For the rear wheel dishing pattern, which one should I choose? Traditional or Ai offset? If Ai offset is it the 3mm or the 6mm? Kindly advise. Appreciate your help. Thanks

LightBicycle 2022/01/15

Hi Azfar, I checked on the bike specs, there is no offset on frame at all. So, you can choost traditional wheel building. Or you can double check with your bike supplier or call Cannondale to make sure it is correct. Thanks, Lightbicycle
