Gary : Love these wheels! Very light and strong, built with sapim cx ray straight pull spokes and Novatec hubs. I use these mainly for winter use, in the wind, and for wet roads... and hill climbs as they are so light, good all-rounders. I use deep section wheels for long flat summer rides. Tubeless tyres fit perfectly, not too tight not too loose. The grooved graphene brake surface works really well in the wet and the dry and make a great sound when braking.. no need to get an expensive heavy disk brake bike with harsh ride quality. I weigh 80kg for reference (sprinter) Great price, excellent quality, perfect, will buy another deeper set soon.

Do U do mixed profile height WS? Eg 38mm front, 42mm rear? Estimate price for such a Wheelset with Sapim spokes, DT Swiss hubs or Novatec hubs? Internal width of 21mm should be sufficient. TQVM

LightBicycle 2021/11/08

Hi Andrew, Yes, we can make a wheelset 700C mixed with different depth for you. But we don't have rims in 42mm. Will 46mm work for you? We have AR46-21mm internal available. What about front 36mm deeep/rear 46mm deep? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi there, Can you make any of you gravel wheelsets in 26inch wheel size and for the rim brake? If yes, weight-wise they need to carry between 80kg to 120kg of the load (If I take my daughter to the nursery) Mainly road/city use with occasional off-road/gravel. I'm planning to use 28mm (26x1 1/8) tyres and potentially something 26 x 1.5 for winter. Can you lace them to QR/100mm front and QR/135mm in the back? I suppose that we are looking at minimum 28H front and 32H back. Also do you use Americal Classic hubs: (for example Micro 58 front and 210 rear)? Kind regards, Mike

LightBicycle 2020/10/21

Hi Mike, We have attached RM26C02(23mm inner/30mm wide), hook version. For this rim, it is okay to have rim brake version.https://www.lightbicycle.com/wider-mtb-26er-carbon-bike-rim-26-inch-rims.html We have Industry Nine hydra or Torch hubs from 100mm QR/rear 135mm QR. We do not have American Classic hubs. Thanks, Lightbicycle

I'm looking to purchase a set of wheels. Will I be charged customs or duty taxes if they are shipped to the United States. The North American division does not have the choice hubs I'm looking for. Also, I received a 3% discount code and it does not seem to be valid.

LightBicycle 2019/06/27

Hi Gary, 1. What hub are you looking for? I can check the availability for you if you want the road 28mm wide 700C wheelset to be shipped from North America warehouse. 2. Yes, there will be customs fees charged by your local authority. But we usually lower the declared value to USD220 for one wheelset so you can pay less tax. Let me know if this work for you. 3. Have you activated the coupon code by share to Facebook? You can copy the code only when it's activated. There are some conditions for the activation, You will need to use the same device for sharing and coupon code application. But, I can use the discount for you if you can send me a screenshot with your post. Thanks, Lightbicycle

I'm looking to build up a set of wheels for cyclocross. 33mm tubeless tires.. Do I need hook or hookless rims?

LightBicycle 2019/06/15

Hi Gary, If you are not running under 80psi, then go with hook version to make the tire sit tight onto the rim, if you are running under 80psi, you can choose hookless. But we do really recommend you to go for hook version. There are really less people choosing hookless for cyclocross wheels. It is more safe when you ride higher tire pressure. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Sam 2019/06/09

I'm trying to work out whether to get the hook or hookless rims. I ride on the road only and run 28mm tyres. Tyre pressure is typically around 65psi. Do the hookless rims provide a better aero profile for the tyre than the hooked? Is either stronger than the other for a) hits and b) potential damage from tyre levers during rim fitting? Regards

LightBicycle 2019/06/10

Hi Sam, For more than 65PSI on road disc wheelset, we do recommend hook version. And most customers order hook. There are really few customers choosing hookless. For hook, it can hold higher tire pressure to prevent from tires blowing off. For hook and hookless the aero performance is the same. For RR36C02 rims/wheels, they are easy to mount/take off tires. Our engineers do not need brake levers at all. For using brake level, if it is rubber levers, it will not damage the rims normally. Thanks, Lightbicycle

I’m looking at the wr6c02, but wanted to get a hub with an xd driver (or even better would be an XDR driver, and Novatec is fine). Is this possible? 15x100 and 12x142, centerlock, 28 hole. Spain spokes and brass nipples. Matte and UD weave, hookless. With valve stems, tubeless tape, and an extra spoke of each length used. If possible, can I get a quote? Thanks

LightBicycle 2019/02/16

Hi David Currently, we only have XDR freehub is only available for DT Swiss 240s/350. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Rosario 2018/10/18

I would like to have some clarifications: 1. except the weight difference, is there any difference in terms of performance (rolling resistance) between the DT Swiss 240 and 350? 2. For a road "racing" bike is better a ratchet 18 or 36? Please clarify why... 3. what's the difference between Pillar and Sapim spokes?

LightBicycle 2018/10/20

Hi Rosario, Please check our reply as below. 1. DT Swiss 240S hubs are with higher end parts inside than 350 hubs. 2. The 36t or 54t provides a noticeable amount of extra engagement points which helps when ratcheting your freehub during slow speed technical situations. It will help the wheelset feel more responsive overall. The 18t is more reliable as the grooves are the deepest in the star ratchet, whereas the 54t has the shallowest grooves and the 36t is right in between those 2. If you put out a lot of torque and don't like messing with your equipment, stick with the 18t, but if you want more engagement the 36/54t offer a noticeable performance gain. 3. Pillar PSR X-TRA 1420: An inexpensive bladed spoke, great for XC and trail riding. Sapim CX-RAY: Our most durable bladed spoke. Its low weight, aerodynamics, and flexibility make it a popular choice for racing at all levels. Thanks, Lightbicycle

R

Rosario 2018/10/21

Thanks for your reply. Having high end parts doesn’t always mean having better performance. I would be grate if you can be more specific letting me know if the 350 hub is less efficient and has less performances than the 240 s. For example I mean putting same output power on the flat...is the speed of the 350 and 240 the same? Thanks

LightBicycle 2018/12/08

Hi Rosario, DT 240S hubs are lighter than 350 hubs. The DT 240S have stainless bearings. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Do you offer a 24h front and 28h rear (2-cross for both) build option for this set? Doesn't allow that combo when selecting build options. Thanks so much! Cheers, A.

LightBicycle 2018/11/17

Hi Andrew, It is okay to build this road disc wheelset front 24H/rear 28H. The price is the same. You can leave a message on the order that you like front 24H/ rear 28H. Then we will see it and double check with you after getting your order. Or you can leave your wheelset specs here, we can work on invoice accordingly for you. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Morten 2018/11/05

Hi, do build rear wheels that fit Cannondale AI frames (the rim must be moved 6 mm to the left)? Regards Morten

LightBicycle 2018/11/06

Hi Morten, According to the Cannondale official website, the AI system requires put the drivetrain 6mm to the right. Which means the wheelset must be adjusted accordingly. Otherwise, the whole set won't be balanced. We've built a lot of offset wheelset for the Cannondale AI system for our customers for now. So we are well experienced in this. Are you looking for a wheelset for your AI frames? I understand that you are looking at the WR36C02 (28mm wide, 36mm depth). The wheelset was designed for gravel road riding. Are you planning on using it for your bike project? What would be the tire width you use? Thanks, Lightbicycle
